Mirth Connect

An open-source healthcare integration engine used to route, transform, and filter HL7v2, FHIR, and other clinical messages between systems.

Mirth Connect (now NextGen Connect) is the most widely deployed open-source integration engine in healthcare. It uses channels with source and destination connectors, filters, and transformers written in JavaScript or built with a visual mapper. Mirth handles protocol translation (TCP/MLLP, HTTP, file, database), message transformation, and routing logic. Most hospital IT teams have at least one Mirth instance.
